Sharp R-408LS Family-Size 1100-Watt 1-2/5-Cubic-Foot Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel

We bought this when we did a kitchen remodel 3+ years ago, and it’s still nuking along just fine. It looks great, heats-up perfectly, and has every feature my wife and I need. Highly recommended!

I purchased this as a replacement to a 10 year old nuker that blew up.
I am very happy with everything about this product, easy to use, clear instructions for special items.

This microwave replaced an older Sharp Carousel, and we are very pleased with its performance and features, right out of the box. The stainless is a nice look.

I replace my 2nd crappy Kenmore microwave in 5 years with this Sharp R-408LS. I like it but it is a lot harder at first to learn and understand. The defrost cycle is a pain cause every 30secs it wants me to open the door and pull apart whatever I am defrosting this is called staging which is like 3 times for 1lb of ground beef (I call it retarded). I just open and shut the door and hit start to continue still a pain in the butt.
Kenmore you hit defrost pick whatever then the weight and forget about. If there a way to defrost and skip staging please tell.
Popcorn has 3 setting so read the back of the bag before popping to pick right size or stand and listen to it. Over all it is a great microwave beside defrost this baby is big at 1.4 cubic feet and 1100 watts it heats and pops popcorn fast.
If it last more the 2 years it will have out lived my last Kenmore if it last more then 5 years it will be better then Kenmore.
I would recommend you shop around I got this for $99 at my local Costco with tax came to $106.99. I would have hated to have paid $175. For $107 I can live with the learning curve and it worth it. I don’t think it worth $175.
The only stainless steel is the door and I scratch the middle of the door cause Sharp put a sticker with glue that wouldn’t come off but, that’s ok. I am happy.

Bought this at BJ’s in NJ in Oct 2009. Seemed like a decent product for $99. I usually keep the box until I know it works, but the old one was completely dead so I chucked it. I kninda regret that. Now, after a month of use, we have had the 15 amp breaker blow like 4 times. The first time, we had heated up several dishes of food with no cover over them. The last thing was a small pitcher of water. unlike another reviewer on here who said that heating water produced no vapor build up, the heated, uncovered water released SOOOOO much vapor that the time display on the keypad fogged over and the breaker blew. We have since been covering the food with a microwave proof cover and the water with wax paper as suggested with somewhat beter results. The breaker still blew, but not nearly as much fogging of the display. This unit does draw a lot of power. The only other thing plugged into its outlet is a small sony boombox type radio. If it is on when the microwave is on for more than 5 minutes, the break blows. Going to try a 20 amp breaker to see if the problem goes away. I have to say, this is the first microwave I have had that seems to have poor ventilation. Most blow hot air out the top or back with some force, but not this one. Seems odd. My final veridict is still out on this unit until I see if the higher breaker works. I still think that the poor ventilation is a problem that would make me not recommend this product, though.
